Catalysts' Raiding 101

Catalysts has an amazing ability to pull off raids with a minimum number of people. They have done raid mobs with only 18 people. It's a guild that is exceptional at development and execution of strategies. To perform these miracles, people need to know their jobs and be obedient while in raid.

Read

Read this document and have potions and equipment you need on your toon for raids. Read the forums and the strats for the mob.

Follow Instructions

One night a planar progression mob went down and someone hailed the gnome because they thought it would not matter. It does matter and it caused a huge amount of stress for us trying to frantically rez people as others had to start hailing. There is usually a reason why things are done a certain way. If you disagree, wait till after the raid for your tells with suggestions... just remember the officers have a lot of things going on during raid and your tell with a "suggestion" may not be taken well and may well be ignored in the middle of raid.

Loot

Catalysts does loot on a Zero-DKP system. Loot is assigned a DKP value. The value of all the loot “bought” on a raid is totaled and divided among all those present for the raid. Everyone at a raid gets the exact same amount of DKP for attending. (Long explanation is in the Catalysts Rules).

Loot is awarded to the member that asks for the loot (bids) with the highest DKP. If two members have the same DKP, they will roll for the item. Trial members are only eligible for loot after full members and you can go into negative DKP. . If you want something, though, throw in a bid. It doesn't hurt to bid and you aren't being greedy. The entire guild benefits if you have better gear.

Transportation and Being Prepared

Don’t hold up a raid because you don’t have invis or don’t know the way. EVERYONE should have these basic items on them at all times:

  1. Invis Potions - If you are not a class that can invis, please buy several invis potions to have on hand just in case. They are 10.5pp, more if you are ugly.
  2. Lev potions - Have them in case you get left behind and need an emergency levitation.
  3. Enduring breath - Either an item or a potion (AA-able also).
  4. Shrink potions/method - If you cannot shrink, buy a shrink device and some Class 6 mana batteries (can be bought in POK). Shrink devices are tinkered and can be bought for as low as 700pp in the bazaar. They are recharged with a Class 6 battery in a recharge box. Each battery is worth 20 charges and this device is targetable (meaning you can shrink others in your group). There is also a shrink wand that drops in the Deep.
  5. Heal potions - if your cleric is in rotation, they can't often can't heal you when the main mob is engaged. If your healer dies, they can't heal you then either. Keep some heal potions on you to help you survive. Healers also should keep some available so they keep mana to heal others.
  6. Distillate of Immunization potions - must have for AMV raids in COA.
  7. Gate potions/method - If you cannot Gate, you need to buy and keep a gate potion on you. Most of the time we have a port/teleport out, but it is expected that everyone have a way out just in case.
  8. Clarity potions - If you lose your C7 and all the enchanters are dead, you will be sooo happy you have these in your backpacks.
  9. Faithstone/spiritstone - If you are a shaman or cleric get a faithstone/spiritstone. These are a 30-second gate to your hometown. No cleric or shaman should be without one unless they are KOS to their hometown (Dagdas is a 234 potter and can make them).
  10. Clickies - have one. Don't know what it is? Clickies and Debuffs
  11. Resists - You need them... they save the healers from having to waste mana on you rather than keep the MT up. Improving Resists
  12. Get Maps. Go to Mapfiends (http://eq.mapfiend.net/alldl.php) and download the maps for all the zones.

In the Fight

Assisting

Turn auto-attack off on assists. You don’t want to break a mezz before the main tank does.
Assist the main assist/main tank in the raid.

Raidsay

Do not put any chitchat or comments into raidsay. We have a raid chat channel for that.
Raid chat channel is /join catkill:[get password ingame] (good to have on autojoin)

Looting

We have officers that loot. If you perchance loot something on a raid, you are expected to deposit into the guild bank.

Buffs

Send tells to the appropriate classes for buffs, do not use raidsay. Sending a tell allows the buffer to use /RT to target you which targeting is very difficult to do in a large raid otherwise.

Healers

There is a separate healing channel for healers during Catalysts raids. Healers and neccies need to be in that channel. No healing spam goes into the healer channel except Rotation complete heals and Heals over Time. Most fights include a heal rotation so the Guide to Complete Heal Rotations is a must read.

Tanking Terminology, Practices, & Techniques

Everyone should read this Guide to Tanking Terminology, Practices, & Techniques so you understand what the melees are doing in a raid. Obviously, all the melees must read it.

Raid Messages

Catalysts has a list of Standard Raid Buttons.
