Guild Charter and Rules

CHARTER
Updated 3/28/08

"Catalysts" is an EQ guild on Povar focused on raiding and maintaining a "laid back" and friendly atmosphere. We are dedicated to raiding and guild progression with an easy to manage schedule. "Catalysts" will have constant and steady progression on what we can raid and how effectively we accomplish those raids, but without the hardcore raid attendance requirements of other large raiding guilds. Along with progression, our primary focus will be creating a community that our members find fun and rewarding to be a part of. We will have goals that our members can work on every time they log on and hopefully give everyone a sense of accomplishment every time they play.

I. GENERAL CONDUCT

1. Members of "Catalysts" are expected to have a fun loving and easy going attitude. Most of these rules had to be enacted because someone tried to cheat the system.

2. Members of "Catalysts" have a strong will and are not easily discouraged.

3. You will be expected to put the needs of your guildmembers above those outside the guild.

4. Treat others how you would want to be treated.

5. Always be respectful in /guildsay and the forums.

6. No talking trash or continuing another's trash in OOCs. You carry the Catalysts tag and what you do represents us all. No OOCing during raids, period.

7. Never Kill Steal, Spam, Ninja Loot, or break any other SOE rules of conduct.

8. No drama. We won't tolerate it. If you didn't learn to play well with others in kindergarden, we aren't going to put up with it here.

9. All characters must be either in Catalysts guild, Royal Order of Norrath or left un-guilded. Alts under 55 can be in Royal Order of Norrath. You can not have characters in any another guild than Catalysts or Royal Order of Norrath. (Any exceptions to this must be cleared through Elmiki or Dagdas.)

II. RAID ATTENDANCE

1. We will have 4 planned raids a week, if you are online you are expected to attend. If you don't want to raid, then don't log on. (It's one of those few rules we are adamant about.) If we have engaged a mob, you won't be part of the raid for loot purposes.

III. /GUILDSAY and FORUM GUIDANCE

General:

1. Racial, ethnic, sexual, or religious slurs will not be tolerated and are cause for immediate removal.

2. Extreme or constant profanity is not permitted.

3. Personal attacks on any guild member or the guild itself will not be tolerated. If you have a problem with someone or something first attempt to work it out in /tell. If you can not resolve the issue talk to an officer in /tell or PM the guild leader or another officer.

4. Guildchat and the forums will be kept to PG-13. Ententre and suggestive comments are fine... graphic offensive language is not. There is a channel for that.

5. Talking 'trash' is allowed but must be done in an obviously fun loving and joking manner. If you are upsetting someone - then stop.

6. No whining. No flaming. Again, if you have an issue that is bothering you /tell or email an officer at some time OTHER than immediately before, during or after a raid.

7. If you need to communicate something important about DKP or attendance, use regular email. Not the forums, not PMs, not in-game emails, not a tell to an officer trying to set up a raid, but regular email. Any other method may not be noticed and you can't whine because you didn't follow directions.

Special Channels:

There are special /chat channels set up for specific reasons. Special raid channels are usually annouced in raid, but you should know the standard ones. If you feel you should be in one but do not have the info talk to an officer.

Examples of special chat channels are:

Raid Leader Channel:
Channel for raid leaders to discuss things specific to the current raid

Raid Chat Channel:
Channel for raid information and comments

Officer Chat:
For officers to discuss guild related issues

Raid Healer Channel:
Used to coordinate and set-up CH cycles and other healing strategies, includes necros

Raid Debuff Channel:
Used to setup and coordinate debuffing of raid force mobs

Raid Crowd Control:
Used to setup and coordinate crowd control with multiple enchanters

IV. DKP Info
This is a method for distributing loot during raids.

1. Outlining the DKP system

1a. Every desirable item able to be gotten during a guild function has been assigned a DKP value. The listings are stored in the DKP database and are open to review and suggestions by members of the guild. If a new item drops that does not have a value listed, its final DKP value will be determined by the DKP Officer and other officers online at that time and recorded in the database.

1b. Each member's DKP are updated after each day's raid, usually within an hour or two, but always within 24 hours.

1c. Everyone in the guild (Trial, Member, Officer, Guild Leader) receive the exact same amount of points per raid. There are no bonuses awarded for extraneous duties.

1d. Spells, keys and their components, and bane weapons and their components are awarded based on need and/or highest "Raid DKP" earned, at the DKP Officer's discretion. At this time only OOW, DOD, and ancient spell runes have a DKP value.

1e. Once an item is purchased, the value is immediately deducted from the individual's DKP pool.

1f. All raid-level mobs are worth a minimum of 0.1 DKP per player, regardless of success or failure of the raid or the number of people attending the raid.

1g. If you are playing another character with permission, you must notify the attendance taker so your main will receive credit for the raid.

1h. It is your responsibility to check the DKP site regularly and make sure your raid attendance, DKP, etc is accurate. Make sure the DKP site reflects when you are taken off of trial status as it effects your priority in loot distribution. If there is an error, send Dagdas an email at dagdas@catalystsguild.com (not a posting in the forums, not a tell in-game, not an in-game email, not a whine to another officer nor even a PM from the website, but a real email).

1i. Droppable DKP loot that is not purchased at a raid will be left in the guild bank for a week. Any main can offer to buy the item for full DKP or, if no mains are interested, a player can buy the item for an alt for 50% DKP. Alternatively, the leadership may choose to sell banked items to raise guild funds.

1j. Guests must be approved by the Raid Leader. Details of how guests earn loot is detailed here.

1k. If you are appreciably late to raid (over a half hour or more dependent on raid) you only get half credit for the raid. For some raids, we may also offer "on time" bonuses and "stayed to end" bonuses.

2. Playing a character other than your Main

2a. If a player is asked to play another character instead of their Main by the Raid Leader, the Main earns DKP. Valid reasons for not playing your Main at a raid are determined by the Raid Leader. If you playing another player or your alt without permission, then you do not get DKP for the raid.

3. DKP Tiers: Tiers are reflected in the guild DKP tool but we do not use them to distribute loot anymore. We use bottom line DKP with certain class exceptions by the DKP officer.

4. Loot Priority

Full Member
Trial Member
Applicant Invite
Twink / Bot / Alt (items here cost 50%)
Destroy

4a. Only Full Members may purchase droppable items.

4b. Special Weapons - Warriors have priority on all hate increasing weapons, Rangers have priority on selected bows, Healers have priority on heal increasing items, Berzerkers have priority on two-handed weapons, and Rogues have priority on selected daggers. The priority on weapons can change at any time as determined by the DKP Officer and leadership. Normally it is only for the first 3-6 times a weapon drops subject to the needs of the guild.

5. Types of Raids

5a. Guild Raid - This is the most common type of raid. As many as 6 days per week will include 1 or more of these raids. Attendance is mandatory if you are online.

5b. Optional DKP Raid - There may be 1-2 per week. Attendance is not mandatory, a maximum of 1 DKP is earnable per person, the DKP officer must designate the raid as optional DKP, and all Guild Raid rules apply.

5c. Greed Raid - These raids do not require officer support, DKP is not earnable, items may be sold or used for personal gain, and they must be made open to every guild member in attendence.

6. Determining Points Earned

There are a few ways to earn DKP.

6a. To determine the value of a raid mob, the acting DKP person takes a list of those in the raid prior to the encounter. If the raid is a success, everyone in the raid gets a number calculated by the DKP site of the total points spent on all the items dropped - divided by the number of people in the raid. These points will then be added to each individual's DKP total for their use no later than the next day. Whenever someone purchases an item, the value is immediately deducted from that person's DKP account.

6b. DKP may be awarded for clearing to a mob (Tunare) before the main raid force arrives. These points are earned at 0.5 DKP per hour of clearing per person. Clearing is considered over when a sufficient raid force for the final mob is present. The Raid Leader has final say on who qualifies for the clearing DKP and when early clearing ends. At the Raid Leader's discretion, any raid with an extensive clearing time may be treated in this manner. Clearing DKP is recorded as Bonus DKP in the DKP database.

6c. DKP values higher than the default minimum (0.1 DKP) will be assigned for mobs that generate no normal DKP yet still are useful to the guild, for example Sontalak. This is recorded in the DKP database as Special DKP. The DKP officer reserves the right to add Special DKP to other events/raids that are useful to the guild.

7. How to use your points

7a. When a mob dies and loot is declared, the acting DKP person for the raid will put the item link with its assigned DKP value into the raid channel and ask for tells. The DKP person will review the points of those interested and their status and normally award the item to the person with the most DKP. The DKP Officer reserves the right to award items bases on appropriatness to class to better benefit the guild. The DKP Officer may also award a close DKP spread based on raid attendance depending on the circumstances. The pace of raids do not allow for abundant time to belabor decisions.

7b. **DKP is a method used for distributing loot. You are not owed anything and loot is not the payment for your time and effort.**

7c. Someone may not play another person so that they may get a loot drop without permission from the leadership (extraneous circumstances, etc).

7d. If you did not participate in the clearing that some mobs require (Tunare, CT) for at least 50% (estimated), you may have a lower loot priority then those that did. This is up to DKP Officer's judgement, with input from other officers. (This is to help prevent people from zoning in for the boss kill in hopes of a loot drop, but were not online for the more tedious work of preparing for the final encounter.) This rule can apply even if the Raid Leader chooses to award DKP for clearing to the mob (6c above).

7e. Droppable items from a guild function or guild bank may not be sold for personal gain. The ONLY way you can make profit from an item gotten from the guild is if you disband and leave the guild entirely.

8. Disciplinary Action

8a. Members that show unusual behavior in their looting habits will be counseled. If it is an excessive attempt to abuse or self-profit from the system, they will be warned/punished. DKP is designed to distribute loot, it is not payment for services.

8b. If you are AFK for a significant portion of a raid, you will not earn any DKP for that raid.

8c. If you fail to follow basic raid instructions, accidentally evac your group (move your buttons so they may not be accidentally hit), have to be reminded to do the normal things required (getting shrinks, getting buffs, etc), or do anything that is detrimental to a raid, the acting DKP person may deduct up to 0.5 DKP per minor offense with either DKP Officer approval or the majority of officers online's approval.

8d. If you attempt to cheat the system by:

  • Playing another character without permission from a raid leader with the intent to deceive and acquire items/DKP for that character/friend,
  • Lying that you were present for a raid when you were not,
  • Milking raids through excessive AFKs, or
  • Habitually showing a lackluster attitude towards raiding in general after being counseled,
  • Having friends play you on the side without notifying the attendance taker,
  • Or by any other means,

A raid leader (along with 2 other raid leaders, or guild leader) may issue any consequence from subtracting 2-10 DKP from your DKP pool up to guild removal without possibility of a retrial depending on the extraneous circumstances and past histories.

8e. If you are late for a raid and do not make it before the pull of the boss mob, you are not guaranteed to earn full DKP for that mob. This is to be determined by the DKP Officer and other officers online depending on the circumstances/impact involved. On raids with long setups, if you are not in raid in a timely manner the raid leader has trouble assessing targets. Therefore, members appreciably late to a long raid will only get partial credit. Exceptions to this are people that have arranged with Elmiki and Dagdas PLUS have communicated that day by phone or email with Elmiki or Dagdas.

8f. If your character remains inactive in the guild for a 3 month time period, unless Dagdas is contacted by regular email with a good reason, you will be removed from the guild.

9. Loot Limits

When we foray into new zones, the first six times we raid a new mob/area please limit yourself to one drop a night unless something is going to rot. We all work hard as a team to get to the new zones and this gives more people a chance at new loot.

10. Examples of raids

10a. Tormax Raid

Guildmember_1 purchases a Tormax head for 15.0 DKP
Guildmember_2 purchases a Horn of Hsagra for 10.0 DKP
Guildmember_3 purchases a Ring of Lightning for 9.0 DKP
Guildmember_4 purchases a Crown for 12.0 DKP

Total DKP spent 46.0 DKP
There were 42 guild members at the raid.
Therefore each guild member would receive 46/42, or 1.1 DKP for the raid.

10b. Tunare Raid

An eight-hour long Tunare raid, with 30 people, clearing the whole plane, with the usual amount of junk from the plane trash as well as, from Tunare, a Golden Leaf earring, an Essence of Nature and a couple of Sap Encrusted Branches.

Random junk: 0 DKP
Golden Leaf Earring: 18.0 DKP (actual value tbd)
Essence of Nature: 18.0 DKP (actual value tbd)
Sap Encrusted Branch: 5.0 DKP (actual value tbd)
Sap Encrusted Branch: 5.0 DKP (actual value tbd)

Total DKP spent: 46.0
Total attendance: 30

The raid leader has discretion over whether clearing time is rewarded with DKP. If all 30 people were present for all 8 hours, there is no need to do anything special with DKP. Let's assume that 18 people started clearing 4 hours before the final 12 showed up.

The DKP Officer, in consultation with the other and officers, can and should choose to assign bonus DKP to the early-clearing crowd. The DKP Officer has final say over who qualifies for the bonus. Each person clearing early receives 0.5 dkp per hour. Attendance must be taken regularly by someone in the clearing group. In this case, all 18 clearers would receive 2.0 bonus dkp in addition to the dkp all 30 raiders received based on the Tunare loot.

VI. Alts
1. Alts must be level 55. Those under level 55 can go in Royal Order of Norrath. (Some alts of old members have been grandfathered in.) If you are a trial member that is not up to our minimum level, you cannot add an alt till you are at our guild minimum requirements. (Unless there is a damn good reason and Dagdas says so.)

2. Try to concentrate on your main character as much as possible. For us to progress we must take our most powerful characters and constantly advance them. It is totally fine to play alts for a change of pace or to prevent burn-out, but spend the majority of your time on your main character.

3. Alts, Bots, and Invites do not get loot unless no full member bid on an item. Main toons are always before alts.
