Complete Heal Rotation

Catalysts Guild Heal Rotation Guide

What it is and how does it work ?

Lets start with a scenario.
Lets say you have a tank with 7.5k hps who is fighting a mob that is doing 10k of damage every 10 seconds. The Cleric Complete Heal without AA’s heals for 7500 HP’s and has a 10 second cast time. That means with 1 cleric, in the above situation you have a dead MT.

This is why we need a complete heal rotation ( CH Rot ).

In the above example, lets say we have 3 healers available for rotation. The lead cleric will assign and order and timing of the complete heals. The timing is determined by looking at a number of variables including, the mob’s damage output, number of healers available, past experience, etc. So lets say the lead cleric has assigned Frank, Mike and Jenny on CH rot in that order with a 4 second timing. That timing means that Mike casts his CH 4 seconds after he sees Frank’s CH spam in the catheals channel and Jenny casts her CH 4 seconds after she sees Mike’s CH spam – rinse and repeat.

First Step is your hotkey setup
I happen to have complete heal in spell gem #4 so my hotkey goes like this.

Line 1: /2 INC CH on -- %t -- NEXT IS >>> FRANK
Line 2: /cast 4
Line 3: /cast 4

** Line 3 is very important in case you fizzle your first cast ***

All CH’s are spammed in the catheals:reversedps channel. HOTs (heals over time) should be spammed in the healer channel also. DO NOT spam fast heals or ANYTHING into the raid channel.

While the rotation is active, no other spam should be sent there. This is also where the lead cleric will adjust the timing of the rotation. Below is what your CH spam MUST look like.

/2 INC CH on -- %t -- NEXT IS >>> FRANK
/2 INC CH on -- %t -- NEXT IS >>> JOE
/2 INC CH on -- %t -- NEXT IS >>> MARY

That is the easy part. Here are some things to keep in mind that will make or break the rotation.

PAY ATTENTION

All instructions and pertinent information to the healers will be disseminated in the catheals channel. That means that you have to be IN the channel and be paying attention as soon as the raid is formed.

Timing Count

The timing of your count is in seconds. That means on a 4 count – 1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, etc. on a fast rotation, peeps casting too early or too late will mean the difference between a wipe or a success.

Mana Preservation

On a long fight, mana preservation is critical. It is your responsibility to:

• Ensure your self buff is fresh... It's not good to loose 8 mana regen / tick when your Armor of the Zealot drops

• After the rotation is running smoothly, sit between your casts or use a mount if outside

• USE your mod rod near the beginning and ensure it has 3 charges prior to engagement

• If you are getting LOM call it out in the healer channel so you can hopefully can get a paragon / twitch. Don’t call it when you are at 5% mana, call it at about 40%

Aggro

During rotation, aggo can mean at worst a raid wipe. Do your part and don’t sit when add’s / respawns are active. Your CH’s might be interrupted and if you miss a CH… tank dies... you die... we all die... you get the picture.

Ext Range Item

If you dont have one - get one. And if you have one bring it and equip it. If the rotation is going well without your ER item going off and you want to swap it out for a better item, fine.

Your Party Heals

Under ANY Circumstances DO NOT heal your group if you are on rotation. Your responsibility is for the MT and yourself only. The only exception to this is if you have the HOT AA... feel free to cast away.

Rage

Be ready to step up the heals as soon as you see RAGE from the mob – cleric leading the rotation will adjust timing accordingly.

The most important skill you have is your good judgment and experience. Being in a rotation can be stressful and demands 100% concentration as split seconds make the difference. In my opinion, it is the toughest job except for the raid leader.
